PATRIOTIC FESTIVAL - A CELEBRATION OF OUR MILITARY
The Hampton Roads region pays tribute to the brave men and women of the U.S. military for their heroism and sacrafices. Over the weekend of May 30 - June 1, the oceanfront comes alive with live entertainment from top national acts. On Friday, Sugarland takes the stage. On Saturday May 31, Train's lead singer Pat Monahan performs at 3pm and then Brian McKnight shows off his vocals at 8pm. The weekend concludes on Sunday with an evening performance from country star Travis Tritt. Two night package options are available for the entire weekend. All packages include oceanfront accommodations and VIP passes to the shows:

LATIN FEST
There's more than just fun in the sun at this unique Latin flavored event featuring good food, dancing and great music. Dance to the beat of salsa, merengue, mambo and bachata tunes presented by some of the best national, regional and local acts. Shop the Festival Marketplace for merchandise, arts and crafts, and foods from a variety of countries. All concerts are at the 24th Street Stage and are free and open to the public.

BOARDWALK ART SHOW & FESTIVAL
The Boardwalk Art Show and Festival is one of the oldest and best outdoor fine art shows on the Eastern seaboard, and this year will mark it's 53rd year. The show is consistently ranked in the top 40 of Sunshine Artist Magazine's Top 200 Art Shows. The show runs along the Virginia Beach oceanfront boardwalk from 17th Street to 24th Street.

VIVA ELVIS AND LEGENDS OF ROCK & ROLL

STARS & STRIPES EXPLOSION
We're throwing a star-spangled celebration on the Virginia Beach oceanfront! Inspiring concerts, rock performances, tribute bands, fireworks and more will be featured at this annual Hampton Roads family tradition. A stage built right on the beach at 20th Street becomes the focal point for a rousing concert by the Virginia Beach Symphony Orchestra, the Virginia Beach Chorale, and the versatile Doorway Singers vocal ensemble. This event is free to the public.

MID-ATLANTIC HERMIT CRAB CHALLENGE
The Crab is King at this one-of-a-kind event that’s fun for the entire family! The day begins with judging for the Miss Curvaceous Crustacean Beauty Pageant, where hermit crabs are presented in their own unique decorated displays judged on creativity and flair. Hermit crab preliminary races lead to the Crustacean 500, where the winner is crowned and awarded the Order of the Mercury Claw trophy! Crabs race on a specially-designed circular track, where all the “crabtestants” are placed in the center. At the sound of the starting pistol, crabs scurry to the outer circle at the edge of the track, where it’s all about the survival of the “crabbiest!” Beauty pageant and race trophies are awarded at the end of the day. There are no entry fees and pre-registration is not required.

CHALK THE WALK ARTSPLOSION
The 4th annual Chalk the Walk ARTsplosion affords all artists and wanna-be artists the opportunity to be expressive in a medium that people of all ages can relate to! And the boardwalk is the perfect canvas for chalk drawings set against the rhythmic backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.

SOUL MUSIC BEACHFEST
Soul Music Beachfest brings together sand, surf, and music for a weekend of soulful exploration. Against the rhythmic background of the Atlantic Ocean, music lovers explore the African origins of today's diversified music genres of soft rock, jazz, Latin, and R & B. This two-day festival focuses on local, regional, and national entertainment, food, activities, and ethnic arts and crafts. Vendors display an amazing array of ethnic merchandise. Bring your beach towel or chair, and get prepared to embrace the essence of Soul at this free event!

ROCK 'N' ROLL HALF MARATHON
Over 17,000 runners descent on the Virginia Beach oceanfront for this 13.1-mile race. Participants compete for the largest half-marathon prize purse in the United States. With a course that's fast, flat and fun, the Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon has become a must run event for thousands of racers. A post-race concert act on the 5th Street Stage tops off the fun-filled day.

BLUES AT THE BEACH
You won’t be “singing the blues” at this casual yet spirited festival that fills the oceanfront air with the riveting sounds of one of the most cherished musical styles of all time! Blues at the Beach brings together the best local, regional, and national Blues performers for a celebration of sight, sound, and music that comes from the soul! A highlight of the weekend is the Blues Cruise on the beautiful Virginia's Jewel yacht on Friday night. Tickets will go on sale in August for this one-of-a-kind midnight cruise! Learn musical techniques for playing blues music at FREE workshops offered Saturday and Sunday right in the park at 24th Street!
